The key domestic indices ended marginally lower. Nifty Media, Nifty Realty and Nifty Pharma shares rose, while Nifty Private Bank and Nifty Bank shares retreated.

As per provisional closing data, the barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, down 8.08 points to 73,598.67. The Nifty 50 index down 3.45 points to 22,749.75.

The broader market outpaced the frontline indices. The BSE 150 MidCap Index increased by 1.05% and the BSE 250 SmallCap Index registered sharp gains of 2%.

The market breadth was positive. On the BSE, 3495 shares advanced and 1700 shares fell. A total of 247 shares were unchanged.

HDFC Bank Ltd was the top traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 406.15 lakh shares and registered a sharp increase of 24.69% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has plunged around 4.31% in last one-month and has dropped sharply 31.40% over last one year.

Eternal Ltd was the second highest traded stock in NIFTY50 index today, recording a quantity of 285.42 lakh shares and recorded a sharp decline of 35.36% compared to last one-week’s average daily volume. The stock has drifted lower by around 1.63% in last one-month and has eased 2.44% over last one year.

Index action

The Nifty Media index rose sharply by 3.66% to 1615.05 today. The index has tumbled by 5.22% in last one week and has risen slightly by 1.22% over last one month. It inched up by 1.43% in last one year. Sun TV Network Ltd (up 10.92%), Prime Focus Ltd (up 9.04%), PVR Inox Ltd (up 4.22%), Saregama India Ltd (up 4.18%) and Tips Music Ltd (up 3.45%) moved up.

The Nifty Realty index increased by 1.94% to 805.05 today. The index has dropped sharply by 3.23% in last one week and has fallen 7.19% over last one month. It has dropped significantly by 17.28% in last one year. Sobha Ltd (up 4.40%), Godrej Properties Ltd (up 3.96%), Lodha Developers Ltd (up 3.10%), Oberoi Realty Ltd (up 2.34%) and Prestige Estates Projects Ltd (up 1.84%) rose.

The Nifty Private Bank index eased by 0.73% to 26628.45 today. The index is slightly lower by 1.34% in last one week and has inched higher by 1.32% over last one month. It has edged lower by 5.59% in last one year. IndusInd Bank Ltd (down 1.33%), Axis Bank Ltd (down 1.17%), ICICI Bank Ltd (down 1.15%), HDFC Bank Ltd (down 1.14%) and Federal Bank Ltd (down 0.81%) moved lower.

The Nifty Bank index slipped by 0.72% to 53974.9 today. The index has fallen by 2.02% in last one week and has posted modest losses of 0.19% over last one month. It has slipped by 6.45% in last one year. AU Small Finance Bank Ltd (down 2.42%), State Bank of India (down 1.63%), IndusInd Bank Ltd (down 1.33%), Axis Bank Ltd (down 1.17%) and ICICI Bank Ltd (down 1.15%) went down.
